Spellamore is an app that teaches kids to read using pictures of cool animals and wild nature.
When I started trying to teach my daughter to read, I discovered that it was easy for her to learn the letters, but hard to understand how they create words.
Starting from the left, taking one letter at a time and finally putting the letters together into something that sounds like a word is very far from obvious.
So I built an app - Spellamore - to help kids understand how words work in an easy and exciting way.
Spellamore works like this:
* Choose between uppercase or lowercase letters and letter sounds or letter names
* A word is shown
* If you click the first letter in the word, a voice says the letter (or letter sound) and the letter is filled with part of a picture. The picture depicts the word
* If a letter sound has more than one letter, all letters in the sound get filled
* For every letter or letter sound you click, the more of the picture you see
* When all letters are filled and you click again, you see the entire picture and hear the word
* The next word is randomly selected
Spellamore contains 50 words with pictures of wild birds, puppies, trains, exotic fish, fire, lions, snow and a lot more.
